Fun Weekend with Shae Bear

We always hate to see the weekends end, but we especially loved this weekend because SHAE was here! :) We had a fun weekend of good food, movies, shopping at the Gateway, and just overall relaxing. It was nice to have some of my family around because I miss them :) Here are some pictures from last week and the weekend.

Ollie has been loving the baby bjorn lately. We went to Costco again the other day and I carried him in it. He loves to look around and just watch the world around him. The chicken bakes there are really good, so we got some and while I was waiting for Dave in line, a cute old couple a couple of tables away said how cute Ollie was and "he's all boy". It's funny how many people say that :)

For some reason I can't get the top picture to go horizontal. Ollie loves to play on this mat he got from Dave's dad and stepmom for Christmas. It's so funny to watch him slowly put his foot up to the ball and then kick, kick, kick! And as you can tell, he loves blowing raspberries all day long. I love this kid!

I love it when my boy sleeps on me!

Ollie's "poop face". It is so funny, he'll stop whatever he's doing and get this serious look on his face. It'll then turn red and he sometimes sucks his lower lip under til his duty is done.

Audiologist Appointment

In the hospital, Ollie failed all the hearing tests they performed on him. They told us on one of them that he got 64% and needed 70%, so we weren't really worried. When I took him back to the hospital 2 weeks later to have another one performed he failed it also, so we got referred to an audiologist. We went to the audiologist last week and he ran some tests that were pretty much inconclusive, so he scheduled us to come in yesterday to do what they call an ABT- Auditory Brain stem Test. Basically we had to bring him in ready to eat and be changed, so that afterwards he would hopefully sleep for the next 2 hours. He was such a champ during it all! I held him the first half hour, but then my arm started getting really tired so we put him in the carseat. He started to cry and wake up at the end, but did so good. The tests came out better than we had thought they were, with minimal hearing loss. We basically have to make sure he hits his developmental milestones and take him back in at 6 months. I love this little guy SO much!

I had a doctor appointment the morning of the 8th and was dilated to a 1.5, 90% effaced, so the doctor asked me if I wanted my membranes stripped. I told him sure, so he did and it started my contractions. I went home and walked around outside a lot. The contractions were getting stronger, so I told Dave he'll probably want to think about getting off work early to drive home from Ogden. He got home and we went to the hospital around 3 PM. I was dilated to a 3 so they admitted me. They broke my water around 5:30 PM and I got the epidural not long after that. Then....I stayed at a 3 ALL NIGHT long! They had me on pitocin and it didn't work. I then had a monitor put inside to see how strong my contractions were, so they could give me more pitocin than normal and that didn't work. Finally around 11 PM the nurse came in to check me and said I was a 4. I thought to myself "This is going to be the longest night of my life!" After she left, we fell asleep for a little bit and I woke up with very strong contractions and my body started to shake as if I were really cold. The next time the nurse came in, she said I was complete and asked me to do a couple practice pushes to see if we were ready for the real thing and I was! She went to get everything ready and I started feeling really nauseous. I'll just say, throwing up with an epidural is not fun. After they changed my sheets, I started pushing. I pushed for a half hour and our little man was born at 1:57 AM on the 9th. Oliver was 8 lbs and 20.5 inches long. It was such a special thing to experience! Here are some pictures from the day :)

We're getting closer and closer! Dave and I have been taking lots of walks to try and move things along quicker. I have my next doctor appointment tomorrow, wonder if we've made progress since last week!

Man, time seems to be flying by faster and faster with the pregnancy! We're 37 weeks now which is considered full term. Last week my doctor was on vacation so I had a different doctor for my weekly appointment. She measured my stomach and said I was only around 33 weeks, which didn't make sense because the week before my doctor had said I was 34/35 weeks. She ordered me to have an ultrasound the next day to measure Ollie and make sure my amniotic fluid levels were good. My sister Shae came with me to the ultrasound and everything turned out great! The ultrasound technician was very thorough and showed us his stomach, bladder, kidneys, etc. She estimated he weighs about 6 lbs 6 oz right now and it was so good to see his little face again! He's grown some pretty cute cheeks :) This week at my appointment I was measured 36 weeks, which is normal because I've measured a week behind the whole pregnancy. I'm dilated to a 1 and 70% effaced. Ollie is measuring in the 49 percentile for growth, which is great. Oh, and check out the adorable pillow Shae's mother in law made for us. Love it!

Yay, 50 days until our due date! This week was kinda crazy. Each week, Dave leaves for a couple of days to do training down in Ogden and stays at his dad's house so we don't spend all our money on gasoline. He came home on Wednesday night and I had been having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions, so we kept track of how many when we went out to eat. I counted about 8 in an hour and they say if you have more than 4 to call your physician. I called the hospital to ask them and they said they can't answer medical questions over the phone for liability reasons, so we headed up there. I told the ER receptionist what I had going on and next thing I know there's a labor and delivery nurse there to wheel me to the other side of the hospital. They hooked me up to the monitor and watched Ollie's heartrate and my contractions. They also had me do a urine test, a fetal something something test and gave me a shot of medicine to stop my contractions. I was also told I'm dilated to a 1. The urine test was fine, the fetal test came out negative meaning there's a 98% chance I WON'T go into labor in the next two weeks (whew!), but man the medicine was not fun! They told me it would make me feel hot and anxious and they were right! My heartrate went from 113 to 141 and I got so hot and agitated! I'd be fine if I never have to get that again! I was put on "pelvic rest" and told to not be in the heat. The next morning I woke up with more contractions, so we went to the doctor to do a non-stress test. Everything looked fine so the doctor said that if my contractions get painful and are every 10 minutes for 2 hours to go to the hospital. I am just so grateful that I had Dave here with me! These next 12 weeks will hopefully go by fast and we'll be able to get our own place and I can see him every day again. I don't know how army wives or other wives whose husbands travel a lot do it!

We moved in with my dad and Julie at the end of May, while Dave will train at his new job for 12 weeks and we'll hopefully buy a house around September. We've had a relaxing, yet sometimes busy couple of weeks. My sister in law Michelle (who is due just 4 days after me) threw me a cute baby shower, we've set up Oliver's crib and bedroom, Dave rented a canoe and fished for a couple of days (more like just canoed, no luck with the fish part), and have had fun spending time with family.

Dave and Josh spent about 4 hours one afternoon washing, Rain Xing, and waxing our cars. They looked like they were worth a million bucks afterwards!

There was one night where a competitive game of Nertz went on...

Have I said how nice it is to be done with school?!

Dave and I took a prenatal class over the weekend at the hospital and WOW! It sure opened my eyes about what is going to happen during the birth! I was so glad we took it though. At the end we got to tour the women & newborn center. I feel lucky that I'll be able to give birth in such a nice place!

100 DAYS

That's right, 100 days left until my due date!! I feel Oliver more and more everyday and love it. The other night I was laying on my side on the couch after Dave had gone to bed and he started moving around. I put my hand on the side of my stomach and I swear I could feel him doing rolls. He did it for a good hour and I loved every minute of it! Dave and I love our little guy so much and are excited to see him in a few months :)

Hear Ye, Hear Ye: Slight Change of Plans!

Hey everyone, so we found out I can actually graduate with Dave at his ceremony at noon! So that's what we're going to do. We think it will be more meaningful and it won't make for such a long day for everybody.

Also, we found out the ceremony will be a little longer than thought, so our reservation at Fredrico's for lunch is now at 2:30. This should give us enough time to not have to rush out of the Spectrum.

A lot of history being made...

First off...

Osama Bin Laden was shot and killed today! He was such an evil man and it gives me a little bit of comfort knowing that there will hopefully be less evil in the world for Oliver now that Bin Laden is gone. I was a senior in high school during the September 11, 2001 attacks and I hope and pray that Oliver and my future children don't have to go through fear like that day.

On a different note....

On Friday, Prince William and Kate Middleton were married. I think they're a cute couple and hope they have a wonderful marriage.

Graduation!!

Chelsey and I are graduating May 7th!

Chelsey is graduating in Social Work at 4 pm at the Spectrum. She is part of the College of HASS. I am graduating in Operations Management at noon at the Spectrum. I am part of the College of Business.

Here is the day's schedule:

9:00 am - We walk from the Quad to the Spectrum (picture time, if you are come bring your cameras!)

12:00 pm - Dave graduates at the Spectrum (about an hour and a half long or so)

1:30 pm - Eat at Fredrico's (we have an area reserved. come if you can, buy what you wish)

4:00 pm - Chelsey graduates at the Spectrum

We are going to eat at Fredrico's, so so good! They have a great lunch special called the snacker. Their garlic bread is really good! It will be tight going from my graduation to lunch since there will be aprox. 800 students graduating from the College of Business. So when my graduation is over head over to Fredrico's and we can take pictures and stuff there or after Chelsey's graduation.

Easter

We've spent every Easter since being married with my family because I've always had to work on Easter, but not this year! (Have I mentioned how nice it is not having to worry about working?!) We went down to Kaysville on Saturday and looked at a nice basement across the street from Dave's brother and we loved it, so we'll be moving in hopefully in a couple of weeks. It will be great to live so close to Dave's family! After that, we went to Dave's dad's house for their Easter party but I sadly didn't take any pictures. His dad made his famous Alyssa (barbeque) and garlic hamburgers, dyed eggs, had an Easter egg hunt for the kids and just enjoyed being with each other. Yesterday we enjoyed Sacrament meeting with Dave's mom and sister, where almost the whole program was the choir singing. Their choir is really good and did a great job bringing the Easter Spirit to everyone. Afterwards, we went to Brett and Michelle's house for another Easter get together and had yummy food that included funeral potatoes, ham, roast beef, Sara salad (a Markham family favorite), rolls, etc. Dessert was SOOOO good and there was lots to choose from. I had to take a picture of the chocolate tort- and if you think the picture looks yummy, you should taste it! There were also cheesecake bites, peanut butter bars, etc. Dave's family also does this "Eggstravaganza" thing where you each get a boiled egg and get paired up with someone. You count to three and hit each other's eggs together and whichever one cracks loses. I've heard about this for so long, so it was fun to finally participate. Dave and I didn't fare too well in this game, but it was okay because we didn't want to take home the "trophy". Michelle had won the trophy last year and was excited to get rid of it but...she won it again! It was so funny. Thanks to everyone who made our weekend so much fun!

Sorry these pictures kind of suck, I only had my phone (which decided when it will or will not take a picture). In this last picture, Alyssa was so excited to go against Dave because she had emptied out her egg prior to the party and had filled it with confetti. Everybody knew and wanted to get a picture and it was funny to see Dave's face when it happened, he was pretty confused :)

This is a picture of me with my favorite professor, Dr. Di. Her full name is Diane Calloway-Graham, but everybody calls her Dr. Di and that's what she has on her license plate :) We had our senior banquet at The Bluebird last night to meet together as the social work Class of 2011 one more time before graduation. This woman is such an inspiration to me. She teaches women in crisis classes, holds a camp for her grandchildren each summer (Camp Graham), is a professor, etc. I learned so much from her in my classes and hope to keep in touch with her in the future!

P.S. She sings a mean "I'm Too Sexy" karaoke song! ;)

It's on a canvas, so we don't need a frame for it. This picture is on the first day of our cruise on our honeymoon. We went exploring around the ship and found this ballroom. Since we had we had it all to ourselves, Dave set up the camera and took this sweet dipping picture :)

Baby Animal Days

We had a buy one get one free thing for Baby Animal Days. It was kind of a bummer because it's been snowing for the past 3 days and everything was SO MUDDY!! If I would've known, I would've worn my snow boots, but it was still fun to see the baby animals they had. Our favorites were the baby turtles and bears. At the end we had free ice cream that became available to the public yesterday called Aggie Birthday Cake. It was pretty yummy!

Biggest Loser

This is my little brother Josh. Isn't he cute? I got to spend the day with him yesterday and was reminded how much I love him. He just keeps growing and growing (he towers all of the girls in his family and I think his dad even) and he's going to be a sophomore at Sky View this year. Here are some of the things I love about him:

1. I love my memories of me and him while he was little. I am 12 years older than he is and I helped raise him while my parents had a store. Two of my favorite memories are (1) One day I was making lunch and had him in the bathtub and to make sure he was okay I'd sing the Beatles song "She Loves You" and he would sing back "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah". It was so cute. (2) I made the kids tuna fish sandwiches one day and when he came to get his he said in his little voice "Eww cat food". Everytime I make tuna fish I think of that :)

When he was a baby I would lay him on my stomach while I laid on the couch and we would both take a nap. Even being 12 years old, I feel like I had a mother like instinct with Josh. I loved watching over him.

When I was 18, Josh caught the chicken pox and got very sick. He kept saying that his head hurt and we thought it was just because he was sick. On the day of my high school graduation, my dad was going to take Josh to the doctor. Josh had a hard time getting up and then tried to put his shorts on like a shirt. When my dad took him to the hospital, they called for an ambulance to take him down to Primary Children's. My mom rode in the ambulance with the lights and sirens going. By the time they got there, Josh was crying for my mom and my mom was right there, he just didn't recognize her. His brain had swollen and he had encephalitis, causing him to lose his memory. A day or two later, us girls went with my grandpa down to see Josh and he wasn't really doing anything, just laying there. We would show him a picture of our family and point to all of us and say our names. Later in the day, we all went down to lunch and my dad stayed upstairs with him. Apparently when we were eating, a nurse was attending to Josh and he looked out in the hall and pointed to my dad saying "there's my dad". My dad came downstairs and told us what happened and we all hurried up there. He was slowly coming back to us. I remember afterwards he was eating a banana (he hadn't eaten anything in days) and kept saying "mmm mmm mmm" and it was like music to our ears. His memory came back and I think taught all of us a lesson about being grateful for each other.

2. He continues to stay positive even though he's gone through a lot in his life. Our parents are divorced and it was very hard on all of us. Josh has a positive attitude and very resilient. He's had to move a couple of times, but hardly complains.

3. He loves his family and friends. He has a tender heart, which can be hard to find with teenagers these days. He will be a great uncle to Oliver and I can't wait to see the things he will teach him.

Random things around the house

This is a Family Home Evening board I had made from a fundraiser I went to. I went with a camping theme and love how it turned out! The little characters (marshmallow, chocolate piece, owl, tree, and bird) are velcroed and come off. This way we can have kids but not have to put their names on here, they'll just choose a character.

After we found out we're having a boy I went to Kohl's and found some cute boy clothes. My favorite is the one on the right :)

Our graduation gowns and tassels! Thought this day would never come. Having these hanging in our kitchen gives us motivation to keep going these last few weeks! By the way, my tassel is the white and Dave's is "drab". I don't know why but the word "drab" just makes me laugh. Especially if you say it with an accent.

This is our very first baby bottle. We got it in a free package from the Motherhood store in the mall when I bought new pants. Yay!

If you can't tell, baby is a BOY!!!

We had our ultrasound today and it was awesome! When called back, the lady squirted the gel on my stomach and put the tool on and we saw the baby right away. It's amazing how much he's grown since the last time we saw him 10 weeks ago! She went from head to toe and showed us the brain, heart (4 chambers and aorta), kidneys, stomach, bladder, etc. Then she asked us if we wanted to know the gender and we said yes and there it was- a cute little boy part! Dave thought he had seen it when she was showing us other stuff, but I was trying to take everything in and wasn't even looking. We are SO excited!

Funny story- I knew I had a urine test today so I drank a lot before going in. After the ultrasound I was finally able to use the bathroom. I wrote my name on the cup and set it next to me and did my business. Next thing I know I'm done and look over at the EMPTY cup next to me. I had totally forgot to do what I was supposed to do. I walked out and felt so dumb telling the nurses. Then we met with the doctor and I drank and drank some more and was luckily able to go afterwards.

We feel so blessed to have this little boy in our lives and already love him so much!!!

Shae and Brady got a puppy today! She's a pug/chihuahua mix named Lucy and she's 9 weeks old. They got her from a family that bought her, but their dog was mean to her so they had to sell her. She is freaking adorable! She had so much energy at my dad's house and was running around the couches like it was a racetrack. Love her!

Korbie Diaper Bag

I subscribe to a lot of websites that show me weekly deals and here's one I found that I couldn't pass up. I had never heard of the Korbie diaper bag, but after looking at pictures and reading some reviews I decided to try it out. They are normally around $150 I think and we got this for $30! The front and back of the bag are like a normal diaper bag with zippered pockets and such. Then the bottom of the middle part has a velcro part that when you open it, a bassinet is inside. It's folded up, light, and compact. We were happy with how nice it is. We can take our baby to other people's houses and have them sleep in it if there's nowhere to put them down, change their diaper in it, etc. Can't wait to use it!

Banana Bread and Full Stomach

I've been trying to eat more fruit while pregnant, so we've had bananas in our house. Every time we get some, Dave mentions how banana bread sounds so good. Well, I finally caved and made some. We ~~kinda like~~ love chocolate here at the Markham house, so we add chocolate chips. I made this as low fat as I could, using margarine and different things, but it still turned out pretty good.

My belly is starting to get bigger and I LOVE it! Here's the view of when I look down at my feet right now. I think it's funny :)

2nd Doctor Appointment

We had another doctor appointment today and everything looked great! Our doctor was out doing a C-section, so we were asked if we wanted the stand in doctor to see us. Why not?! We got to hear the baby's heartbeat with the little doppler machine. At first all we could hear was static and the nurse said it can take a minute. Then we could hear my heartbeat and then faintly hear the baby's. After that, all of a sudden you could hear BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM, the baby's heartbeat was loud and strong! That has to be one of the coolest sounds in the world. It is so crazy to think that I have a little person inside of me, that is alive and growing. It is amazing! The baby's heart rate was 160 beats per minute, which is great at this stage.

First Trimester Almost Over!

This week I'll be 12 weeks, that much closer to the 2nd trimester! Here are some pictures I found on our phone that I thought should be included on here since I print this out into a book. My teeth have hurt SO bad every time I eat something cold or hot since I became pregnant. I had some cavities filled and thought it was because of that, but the dentist isn't sure. It's not very fun. Dave took a picture to document one of my not-so-fun times. I guess I can use it to show my child what I went through for them :)

The other picture is from our first ultrasound. Nothing like getting undressed, getting situated on the bed covered with paper, and looking over to see this....get your mind out of the gutter!

Pregnancy Pillow

Not long after we found out we were pregnant, I was looking online at pregnancy pillows. I found one that looked so comfy and showed Dave and he bought it for me :) It was crazy that such a big pillow could fit in the package it came in! I haven't been able to use it a whole lot yet, just because I have problems sleeping, but I can't wait until my belly is big and can rest on it while I sleep. Thanks hun!

Dave had been eyeing this Brazilian restaurant from the minute he saw the sign. One day we stopped by to see when they open and the manager was inside and offered Dave a Guarana (a Brazilian soda pop) and talked to him for a bit. We went back a couple of weeks later on their opening night. We were surprised by how packed the place was! Being pregnant, I didn't feel like eating anything but towards the end I ordered some ice cream. We had ice cream when we went back to Brazil last year at our friend's house in Teresopolis and I LOVED it! So much creamier and tastier than American ice cream. This ice cream was pretty close to it, so I was pleasantly surprised. Here are some of the foods that Dave got, minus all the meats that they brought. It was pretty pricey for what they offer, but hopefully they will be able to expand their menu. The manager was great and kept asking how we were and even wrapped up some Pao de queijo (little cheese bread rolls) for us. Yummy!

It's been a while since we have posted... Chelsey hasn't been feeling 100%... because WE'RE PREGNANT! We found out in December that we were pregnant and have had to keep it secret from most everyone, but now the cat's outta the bag! We had our first ultrasound today and the baby's heartbeat was nice and strong (174 beats) and he/she was dancing around for us! We feel so blessed that everything is going well! I'm 9 1/2 weeks and due in the middle of August. We can't wait! :D

3 Year Anniversary

Today is our 3 year wedding anniversary! It was just a normal day around here with work and studying for finals so we're going to celebrate in a couple of days when all that's done. It's crazy to think we've been married three years and to see what progress we've made as a couple. My great grandma Emeline Watts died last night at about 11 PM. It's good to know she's in a better place and that we'll see her again! My favorite memory of her was going down to her trailer growing up. My mom would drop us off while she would run errands and grandma would always make us the same thing: ramen noodles, a piece of toast, and a slice of cheese. I love that I knew her and will always cherish the memories with her!

Blizzard of 2010 and Thanksgiving

On November 23rd we had the BLIZZARD of 2010 (dun dun dun)! There was a lot of hype leading up to it and it actually was pretty fun to watch here in Logan. The wind was crazy and it hit right when the weather man said it would. It only lasted about 3 hours but since the wind was blowing every which way, the snow didn't pile up too bad. We kept opening the door to peek outside and snow would blow in our face.

I had to work Thanksgiving this year and it was CrAzY! Working at Golden Corral, I have seen busy times but man this was something new! We had a line to the door all day. When Dave came to pick me up to go to my grandma's he couldn't believe how packed the parking lot was. It sure is nice knowing I only have a couple of months working at menial jobs like this until I can use my degree :)
Thanksgiving was small at my grandma's this year- just us, my mom, Crista, Josh, Joy, LaMar, Lauren, grandma and grandpa. We had a good time chatting with each other and enjoying yummy food. My cousin Scott came home for the weekend from the Air Force Academy he's attending and it was so good to see him and hear his crazy stories about what he has to do there. He's a good kid (well, man I guess now that he's 18) and it's cool seeing him grow up.

Afterwards, we came home and put our Christmas tree up...while watching Christmas Vacation of course! It's become tradition that we do that and Dave must love me because he puts up with me saying almost every funny line in the movie.

Brazil Rio North Mission Reunion

Us with Sister Oppe. When Dave met her on his mission he instantly thought she looked like his mom, which made things a little bittersweet because he missed his mom so much but she was also a source of comfort. She was a sweetheart!

Scott Klein, Skyler Beck, a sexy man, and Josh Searle. They were in the same zone and Josh was in the MTC with Dave.

These two are the Destros from Macae, Brazil. We stayed at their house last year when we went and the one in the middle (Douglas) had just barely gotten home from his mission. His sister's name is Elisa. It was cool to see them!

Over the weekend we attended a mission reunion for Dave. It was fun to see people that he served with and to meet his Mission President and his wife. President Oppe and his wife were so sweet and it was fun to hear them speak about how much they love and miss all the missionaries that were there.

She could have reached out and hugged him if she wanted to play the crazy fan card. Poor Shae. I am in love with Jason Wade (the lead singer of Lifehouse), so sorry for all the pictures :)

Chelsey's 27th Birthday

I went and picked up our traditional Mickey D's Birthday breakfast and headed to his work around 7 to eat with him. I then went to class and did a little shopping at Kohl's afterwards. Tonight we went to dinner at the Coppermill. It was SO GOOD! Dave got a 10 oz. top sirloin and I got a chicken cordon bleu (with yummy garlic mashed potatoes). It was a great birthday!

There was a fundraiser for the Child and Family Support Center yesterday at the Cache Valley Fun Park. Dave had to work, so I thought it would be fun to take my little bro since we don't get to spend a lot of time together, especially one on one. We had fun bowling, eating pizza, and playing laser tag. I might have beat him in bowling and laser tag...ah let's face it I KICKED HIS BUTT :) He's a good sport and I had a lot of fun.

Halloween 2010

We went down to Dave's dad's for their annual Halloween party on the 29th. We had yummy pumpkin bread bowls with chicken rice soup, made caramel apples, carved pumpkins, and just had fun talking with everyone. The next day I had to dress up for work (we were all pirates at Golden Corral), so I ended up wearing my costume ALL day- hopefully my face doesn't end up paying for my beard later this week! It seems that if I even look at my face wrong in the mirror I break out. We went to our Aunt Jill's for yummy soup and cinnamon rolls. We love the holidays!

The other day I heard on the news that we could get coupons online for two people for the price of one at Lagoon for Frightmares,so we were able to get a good deal! We were a little let down with the haunted houses (we wanted them to be scarier), but they were still fun. One sad thing is that the Colossus now makes me motion sick :( I've always loved that ride and we ended up driving home with the windows down (FREEZING outside) because I felt nauseous. I'm so lucky to have a hubby who puts up with me!

Top of Utah Marathon

Our sister in law Michelle ran the Top of Utah Marathon yesterday, which was a goal that she's been working on for a long time. She ran the Ragnar and Top of Utah half marathon earlier this year, but had never ran this far before. She had the goal of finishing in under 5 hours; she finished with almost exactly one minute to spare! She did awesome and we are so proud of her!

Whatever you do DO NOT under any circumstances install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (It runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources.)

In addition, please do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0-program. This is an unsupported application and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend Cooking 3.0 and Hot Lingerie 7.7.

Brazilian Festival 2010

We went to the Brazilian Festival down at the Gateway this past Saturday. To say Dave was excited is the understatement of the year. We had a fun time eating authentic Brazilian food (salgados, rice, black beans, sonhos, bacon wrapped turkey, carne asada, pudim (caramel pudding), and last but not least brigadeiro (little chocolate ball treat things). Then there was a parade with dancers, capoeira (kind of like karate, but they never touch), fun music, etc. There was a booth giving away a drink called Bony Acai, of which we got a couple of free cans. Dave was surprised how much it tasted like the acai from Brazil, so we got online to see how much it was to buy. How about $25.00 for 6. Not 6 cases...six CANS! Holy tamoly batman! So no Bony Acai for us until we win the lottery. Or until next year's festival.

Some other highlights included: cute little boy doing capoeira, Dave's limeade from Hot Dog on a Stick (his fav), seeing his friend Natalie from USU (who's hubby didn't come because he was watching football...lame), buying us each a cheap shirt from Hollister, and looking at Skull Candy headphones for about an hour just to save our money and not get any :)

Labor Day

We started out the day with breakfast at my aunt and uncle's house. Joy made yummy crepes while Dave chopped up the fruit perfectly :) We had a fun cookout with our friends the Wilkey's later that night. We used to be in the same ward as them and are sad now that we don't get to see them every week. This is their little girl Ava.

Chocolate Covered Chocolate Brownie Love

Here at the Markham household we absolutely hate chocolate. It's the grossest thing ever. I have to force myself to choke it down at least once almost every day. It's torture. After torturing ourselves with the chocolate covered brownies in Park City, we decided to try it on our own. They weren't the same, but we still felt that horrible miserable-ness as we ate them :)

I had never been to Park City, so ever since we've been married Dave has kept saying "I can't wait to take you to Park City, you'll love it!" So, yesterday since it was my last day of summer without work, he took me! It was so pretty up there and such great weather. It was fun riding the Alpine Coaster (our favorite), zip line, Alpine Slide, eating at The Bridge (which turned out to be kind of a Brasilian restaurant. Dave got a Brasilian hamburger with ham, fried egg, etc.), going through all the little shops, eating chocolate covered brownies (which pretty much tasted like chocolate covered sex...sorry if that offends you :), buying t-shirts, seeing Dave's mom on the way home, etc. It was a great last summer day before school starts! Thanks hun!

Look What We Won

We went to Dave's company work party last week and had a lot of fun! They handed out tickets to the workers and at the end of the party you had to listen to the last 3 numbers on your ticket to see if you had won. A lot of movie packs, "skookies", a lawn chair, and some other stuff were handed out. As we sat there waiting for '911' to be called out for our ticket, it was coming to the end and I told Dave, "We need to win the big box over there". Well, '911' was called and Dave headed over there for the last prize- the big box! Woo hoo! It was this cute little fire burner thing! We came home and made s'mores on our back patio with it. It's a lot of fun! Thanks Westhost :)

Dave's sister Brynne came up with her two girls for an overnighter and we had so much fun! At the fair, Gwenny was the only one tall enough to ride any of the rides (Bonnie was about 3 inches too short, which was a bummer). It was fun to watch her ride the cars and motorcycles. Then the two girls had fun playing a game.
Afterwards, we went to see the animals. A lamb was next to Bonnie in her stroller and baa-ed right in her face, which freaked her out. She had a hard time enjoying being around them after that. Then we ate some hamburgers, dutch oven potatoes, and brazilian churros. It was great!

Chantelle came down for the day to visit her other grandma's house in Preston, ID and met us at our grandma's afterwards for some pizza and fun! Zach had fun jumping with Josh on the trampoline, while Violet and Dave played with a little cat. We always love spending time with them!

So I'm computer challenged and can't figure out why when I post pictures lately, the pictures aren't all on one side...or the same size....oh well lol. Dave got his haircut today from a real haircutter (is that a word?), but for some reason I really wanted to buzz his head. His hair grows back so fast so it would be back to normal in no time. So, he let me do it! It was so fun!

We went to the farmer's market last Saturday and found some cute stuff! I got some headbands, flower clips, and a bottlecap magnet. Since everything there is girly, we decided we need to put a booth there that has manly things for the men to do while their wives look around :) Dave's such a trooper for going to things like this with me!

We've had a lot of pretty sunsets the past couple of weeks! The first one's a picture in Hyde Park and the other is coming back from Kaysville.

My friend April from school had a group of us over at her house for a bbq, it was so fun! She's got lots of chickens, horses, a goat, kittens...what more could you ask for?!
